in a town in a west african country, a man gets ready to go around town looking for his enemies and hiding behind his masqurade outfit. he is the most feared of all men in the village, as scary as stories said around a campfire. his masqurade is the type that parents uses in scaring thier children when they do something bad. people are waiting for him to come out amidst a lot of funfare and songs. it is the time of the year wheh thier culture and tradition is celebrated. he gets ready for the people to come with his sacred outfit, soaked in fetish medicines and rituals. in his mind he plays back the incidents that had happened to him since the previous festival and now. a man had snatched his girlfreind and he had plan to flog him when he gets to his house. he smiles to himself, knowing that the man will not know that it is him behind the mask and outfit. a man threatened to take his farm and he had planned for him to pay for the mere thought of threatening him. his intention was to tell him to offer sacrifices to the gods; a sacrifice that can buy him a better land in a better place. he smiled to himself and turned as the door is thrown open. his dresser came in with his outfit and he discarded his other clothes and wears the new one. the drummers hails as he came out. he dances and waves his long whip around. people scampers out of his way because he has the right to do anything at that moment and get away with it. he jumps up and down, twists and twirls and as he tried to make a dangerous turn, his mask fell off and his unkept and dirty face becomes exposed. people yell and watched in amazement as thier ever cherished man behind the masqurade makes a fool of himself and as he struggled with his entangled outfit. people keep laughing and he blamed himself for being a show off.
