Verse 1:
I saw a friend the other day
His son looks about three
I could barely believe my eyes
My friend is only nineteen
He's a little bigger, looks awful tired
But all in all he's still the same
Until his son looks up and points his finger
And asks, "Daddy, what's his name?"

Chorus:
Are we that far past old High School bliss
Staying out late with our friends?
Working up the courage for our dist date
Or hearing our first "Lets just be friends"
Driving fast at night with the windows down
To feel the cool wind in our hair
Staring at the stars in the sky with a twinkle in our eye
'cause of the possibilities up there
Please... tell me
When did we find responsibility?

Verse 2:
A girl I knew and I guy I'd seen
Got married just last Fall
The odd thing is through the years before
I'd never seen them talk
But I saw him just the other day
Dressed in a nice shirt and a tie
I guess now he's had to settle down
Become just another workin' guy

Verse 3:
I talked to a friend who is in the service
He's about to move again
But it's okay 'cause he gets more pay
More money for him to spend
Once he's paid off his car and found a nice place to stay
There's another million ways it can be spent
And only one year in he's lookin' 20 ahead
When he starts on his retirement
